I get excited every time I get the opportunity to learn something new and the opportunity to learn multiple things has come along. I hope that I handle this situation well and learn all that I can. I usually need structure though and one of the things I am learning does not have structure. So, I’m stealing from other places on how to do this and posting it here for my reference:
- Develop learning objectives – Determine what needs to be learned
- Look at job specs
- Look at what is covered in the certificate exam, if the learning objective has one
- Set goals – should be SMART:
- Specific
- Measurable – How much time can you commit
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Timely – Set milestones to celebrate your achievements!
- Prioritize goals and set a sequence
- Develop time structure and schedule learning sessions
- Research and get resources
- Utilize technology (apps, websites, forums) to help
- Develop assessment criteria
- Take notes and review concepts
- Reward yourself for any achievements – big or small!
Learning new things is always exciting but it can be overwhelming. Taking the time to develop a plan helps ensure success and encourages learning. With proper planning and dedication, I’m sure I can succeed in this endeavor!
Create a support system – Reach out to others who are also learning something similar or related topics. A support system can provide feedback and guidance, making the process smoother. Get a mentor with experience that you admire – having an experienced mentor makes it easier to grasp the material quickly. Ask questions when you don’t understand something and don’t be afraid to make mistakes! Practice – Keep practicing in order to improve. The more you practice, the more comfortable you become with the material.
Ultimately, learning something new can be scary but it can also be a very rewarding experience. With motivation, dedication and a good plan of action, I’m sure I will be able to achieve my goals. Thanks for being part of this journey!
